Kai...pun..yummy

My fiancee has been behind me for the last couple of months to write something about her in my blog. According to her i write a lot about irrelevant things, which by the way normally spark an international debate which she is not aware of, and miss out on important topics, like her. So here i am writing about her and what better than writing about her cooking.

She believes in the saying "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach". So every time i go to visit her she prepares this one absolutely delicious dish for me. She keeps this dish lined up along with the other dishes and once I am done eating she plays this game, "Guess the Dish I made".Now here I am, not only at the risk of identifying which dish she made but also giving a report card on it.

I should admit that so far I've done well in this game.

While we are in the topic of cooking it wouldn't be fair if i do not mention 2 other people whose cooking is an integral part of my appetite.

Mom

Its a known fact that moms are the best cooks in the world. My mom too cooks amazingly well.

My mom like my fiancee makes sure she gets the feedback for her cooking. But my mom has a very peculiar way of getting the feedback of her cooking from us.

While at the dinner table she would be the first one to give her opinion,on her own cooking. Then she would give us this look, which only mothers can give, expecting us also to give our opinion . Me and my dad look at each other helplessly with no option but to give our opinion, or rather you can say admire her cooking.

So you see she leaves us with no choice but to admire her and we too leave no stone unturned to praise her.

Vishnu my roommate

Now for him the whole world is an ingredient. Given an opportunity he would just open the door go to veranda where the leaves would have fallen from the leaning tree and use them for cooking and then call them ....curry leaves!!!

Unlike my fiancee and my mom he has no set pattern of cooking. Like a typical mallu he might just use the parachute oil we use to oil our hair if he finds that we ran out of cooking oil.

Innovation, is his recipe.

Now this all sums up to what we call Kaipunyam in malayalam meaning quality of certain hands that are believed to fetch good results.
